BACKSTORY.
Visions are something different from each and every individual. Each of us holds the key to innovation, however only a few are able to process it. There is a saying that when one combines their vision and innovation, a creation of something fresh will be created. Everything starts with a frame, an idea, a story.
My father was a man with many words, and ideas. He shared with me the possibility of a dream that all of us must have. Be it a doctor, a lawyer, accountant, musician, or artist, all of us must have the ability to actually pursue what we really wanted in life. He was an idealist. However, he went home to the Lord during my adolescent years. At that point of time, I felt a sense of melancholia. Life seems so short. Back home, I rummaged through his cupboard after his death and actually found an old digital camera. It was one of the older canon series that he had. Through those photos, I actually discovered he took many pictures of me when I was an infant, and different form of artistic expression he had of Singapore.
All these images held a sense of nostalgia and familiarity. The experience was healing which is a cathartic release. I began taking pictures excessively. From just a few images, I was hooked on the idea that every picture is a different experience. The aesthetic of every frame brings forth an expression that cannot be told in writing.
